Stockholm Syndrome - Good or Bad ?

Some Musings from the work place...
I am working with a Company which provides me with the necessary amenities for survival. I like the work in this company. Having put in two years here I feel somewhat inclined to working here for quite some time.

In the earlier days, A Government job used to be for life. I have heard people going amiss with life once they retired. After all it was their routine for close to 60 years. They did not know what else to do.
In the Information Technology industry, i have seen quite some *Old Timers* sticking their butt in an organisation for a long time.
1. Some are arrogant due to their hold over the domain, company etc.
2. Some are oblivious to the outside world and live in their own space.

well the first variety of people can be a nightmare any day.
and the second lot i have found them to be quite intellectual and understanding folks.

I used to derive fun out of such category 1 old timers by calling them Stockies ( the Stockholm Syndrome). My sense was that they stay their just to get some kinda Mileage. one can find such cronies in any kind of Organisaton I belive.

The second category of people are little on the meek side. They are helpful if approached for specific help. They are very intolerant of minor mistakes.
Those are the people who can help you get outta of a soup.
Well now in hindsight it appears they probably are *institutionalised*.
They identify themselves with the Institution. Outside which they are a non-entity

as for my day today.........Miles n Miles to go before I logout ;-)
