Still born Children

If Nehru called India/Pak Midnights children. Then I can go one step further and call Pakistan a Still born chld and India a Handicapped but brilliant child. Not that I am taking sides. But just blurting out the reality.
Lets rewind say 100 years back. There was no India/Pakistan.It was Hindustan back then. When we talk of India & Pakistan history, we would be lying if we dont talk of the 2 Religions. The Hindus were a Majority and Muslims were a minority. How did the Muslims become a Minority. That is something to look at.
Hindustan was attacked from the West by Muslim invaders. They plundered the country. Demolished temples and forcibly converted women to islam.
The Muslim invader Muhammed of Ghazni used to attack Indian Kingdoms and marry indian queens after defeating the Kings. He started a process of infusing islam in India. He also did a big thing of demolishing the temples and killing the women & children. He took the men as slaves. If you see the 26/11 Mumbai blasts (notice I do not use the word latest because it loses its meaning when we have inpet people running the Government). Nothing has changed. THe attackers from Pak came in boats and attacked the instuitions of wealth & power and tried to destroy it.They were also merciless in killing children and Women. The Nariman House victims were tortured in the most brutal way. Not that the others were treated better. They were just lucky to get instant death rather than suffer like the Nariman house victims.
So the point is nothing has changed since maybe 100 to 200 years. Hindustan or India is still attacked from its west.
Going back to Hindustan it was a Commercial Powerhouse and was known to be very Rich and Prosperous. Please see attached image above for details.
That being said. India in the present day also is a equal self of the yester years Hindustan. It is Mighty Military Nuclear Power. It has not borrowed technology but indigenously built it. Pakistan on the other hand is hand holded by China.Which may be a best short cut for Pakistan. Because they do not have institutes like IIM/IIT/IISc.
So Pakistan today is a Still Born child. It created the Taliban which is in line with the Idea of Pakistan.Pakistan was meant to be a state for the muslims. But the current Pakistan harbours terrorists from all over the world.
India on the other hand is a peaceful country. yes its weakend by the Politicians who run the country.Politicians who have never passed a Professional exam call the shots. This is what is the biggest weakness of the country. Each response to the Terror attacks has to come as a voiced protest after carefully weighing whether the Muslims in India are offended or not.In fact I feel there are more muslims in India than Pakistan.
What India & Pak have to do....I do not have anything to say to Pakistan. It was born with a concept which has lost its meaning. There is no political will in Pakistan to give the average citizens a peaceful life. The Pak Military has its relatvies study in UK and US. They are not bothered about the proper pakistani people.
What India needs to do... Establish a Federal Government. Change the average qualification level of the MLA/MP to Post graduate. The Political class has to come from the Military. By this I dont mean the current politicans should be sent to Military.Chances are they will spoil the Military. It should establish a time frame for this.
lastly I truly madly deeply feel India needs a Dictator who needs to give a foundation for these.Because the above suggestions will never be approved by a Congress-Left Government which relies heavily on the Muslim vote bank.
Jaago India Jaago...one of the ARMY/NAVY/AIR FORCE Chiefs has to rescue india from the depths it has fallen to.where murder of 200 every month(so many more in a calendar year) is just a 'chota mota' incident to the Politician.Accountability at the Highest Levels does not end with a Resignation of Shivraj Patil.Comments made by Antulay to garner muslim votes are such a shame. Muslims in india do not condemn such Antulay characters, little do they know that the politician is after making money and assuming power. He is not there to save them from their problems like it happened with the Actor turned politician Govinda. He refused to help people in distress simply because he felt it was not upto him to do the needful.
Afzal Guru should be hanged immediately and he should be called an Enemy by the government.Nobody in the government has guts to do that.lastly the Ghost of reservations has to be addressed. Why was a Reservation clause meant for just 20 years lived more than 50 years in India. Are the reservations for the deserving class ?
The reservations were a result of past prejudices and pressures. Someone somewhere has to set them right.
Just appointing P Chidambaram did not and will not solve the Mumbai issue. When CNN IBN presented a set of ideas to the Home Minister he accepted the book with a smile. He might have a smiling face but what transpired was even worse. He made a statement that average Indian should become a law abiding citizen.
HELLO .... whats the current problem What was it caused by Did Hemant Karkare or Vijay Salaskar not follow the law ??
The Mumbai crisis was caused by Pakistani Terrorists and not by Indian nationals. I shudder to think what such a Home minister can do to such an important portfolio. His statement shows that Indians are not law abiding citizens.
Last and not the least is the comment by the Kerala minister at the Martyed NSG commando's house . I hate to even recollect what that dog said.
I am harping about india needing a Dictator who should be strong and can resist any pressure. The BJP government did it during the Kargil crisis and during the Pokhran tests. Just that it did not have a young leadership to take it forward.
The mandate for Government was never for the congress and coalition politics is the cancer which causes problems.
The Indian Police Force for instance has not improved though other sectors improved after Globalisation. The Indian Intelligence Fraternity is the usual failure because nobody really ventures into it when you get a different life with the IT industry or entertainment industry. Thats why i feel Military service should be compulsory for all able bodied Indians And only a dictator can enforce this in India.
Again in short i want to say we need a Dictator who can install a Federal Government and remove the problems in the COnstitution of India.
For Pakistan I know it will crumble under its own weight. Just calculate how we could develop our country better with $5.4 Billion US Dollars. Its rumoured that the money from US given to Pakistan for the War against Terror was misspent. read
this for more details
I feel the Terror Attack in Mumbai was the corner stone in helping Pakistan limp out of this debt. American Tax Payers money might be finding its way into the Laskar e tayyiba militant outfit.

Its funny how a innocent tax paying Americans in US might be actually funding attacks in India through this discreet funding via PAK.
The US does not ask Pakistan for accoutabilty and just deposists $80 million per month into the Pakistan Foreign Ministry.
The Mumbai attack was mounted such that the Indian government could not do anything due to elections.
The Obama administration would have asked uncomfortable questions to Pakistani military. After the Mumbai attacks the picture changed to such an extent that Britain in fact paid millions of pounds to Pakistan. The Criminal mind at the heart of Pakistan has well orchestrated manouvred and wriggled out of this financial crisis.Obama government can ill afford to discipline the Pakistanis now.
But i still feel eventually the Taliban will strangle Pakistan and it will die at the hands of its own Frankenstein monster.I am waiting to see that day !

Who are responsible for the Deaths ?

I still vividly remember the Russian theatre hostage crisis where the Russian Police used Sleeping gas to counter militants and get some hostages alive.

That was in 2002. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Read the link in detail please... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moscow_theater_hostage_crisis

Its hard to believe the Indian Forces did not utilize anything like this ???
I was all the while thinking the Taj Nariman Trident Oberoi places would be tear gassed and the militants would be subdued temporarily to pave the way for NSG commandoes.

The Russians had used the Ventilation systems to pump sleeping gas. Indians could have done the same at Taj!

Remember !!! The terrorists wore no masks nor were they having gas masks!!!
This element of Surprise could have paved a faster tackle of the situation.
I felt the high-profile guests forced the Police not to use such means...!!!
But at what cost ???

At least they could have saved the Nariman House or many other hostages which the terrorists used as Human Shields.

In The Russian incident the Media was used very effectively by the Russian Secret police.
They fed reports of a strike via the media and did not do any strikes which confused the Terrorists and made them complacent. This is where I feel our media is also murdering our Commandos by feeding inch by inch details of the Operation.
The Media could have been used better. Or all the TV inputs to the Troubled buildings could have been cut off.
The Media is shameless in its quest for viewership. It calls actors and producers or movies and discussed about the greatness of the Taj which was not relevant at the time the operation of the Commandoes was ongoing.

I feel a law is required to curb such inept TV Media so that the Terrorists do not gain mileage from the TV which seems to be their main aim.

What is also apalling is the news that the Intelligence Warnings the Police in Mumbai and Centre had received time and again.
3 days into the Massacre and I hear no resignations. In fact the Government invited the perpetrators for an Explanation which was promptly denied !!!!

Will anybody resign at all ?? Who claims responsibilities of the lives of the ATS and NSG commandoes and scores of innocent bystanders which could have been avoided by acting on the Intelligence tip-off ??

We in fact are in such a helpless state. The Prime minister would not attack Pakistan when it should. There are hapless people being killed. and We ask the neighbours to do the needful.

I feel I Would have attacked Pakistan the moment i knew the Terrorists were dropped by from Karachi.

Pakistan is in its dying stages yet it wants to cripple India's Trade.
Its bloody jealous !!!!

Its time we deliver the Knock out Punch to them !!!!
its time we set the record straight once for all !!!!

My Salutes to the Martyrs & Condolences to the Families which lost a Family member.

Met with -10 degrees

Its snowing in Sweden and we met with -10 degrees for the first time 3 days back.
Remains to be seen wether v r gonna meet any more negative degrees anymore.
It gets damn slippery with the snow. I had my first fall this fall :-)
I was coming out of the Department store and undeestimated the ICE. Fell on my back with a thud.

Snow is wonderful to see...but the cold winds or breeze in Sweden are murderous.
Had been to Paris and it was warmer there. But its still close to -2 deg so ....you can imagine.

Negativity comes with No Sunlight and the sub zero temperatures...its in the air...its dark and gloomy... Waiting for the Sunlight...

Sunny Sunday Soliloquies

I can't believe it's been nearly 2 months since my last post - where has the time gone? Oh yep I know, Marriage and the things that go with it [ or is it that come with it:) ].
Fact is ... Haven't really had a lot to say lately :-(
Grow through your life...Thats what seems to be the IN thing in my life now.
I am consumed by the daily chores of a Married person's myriad hues.
Luckily for me I have found a Perfect Match in Suhasini. Shez adjusted to the New enviornment in a pretty short span of time. Well I do miss my Yoga and the Energy Bundles which come with it.Thinking of starting up on Yoga from tomorrow.
That apart...Things are getting more and more hectic whereas I always try to find tranquility in chaos.
Prafulla my twin visited us for the Marriage which was a good thing as it had been a year since my Twin Californicated himself (moved to California for work).

will get Blog-active after today. Can't emphasize the Mind over matter rhetoric nowadays,
after all I am Single no more and have to think of my Better half in all my meanderings.
Incidentally her favourite, "Stairway 2 Heaven" is also my fav and there have been many occasions when we have watched "Led Zepp" bootleg version videos.
I have moved from a "So So" taglineto "So Good" he he he....

Hasta La Vista !

When did you last do soemthing for the 1st time

Hey ,

I am talking of Marriage [ don't get zany ideas :) ].

Of course I can think of Marriage as one of the things i am doing for the 1st time and hopefully last time. I am getting knotted to Suhasini. Really after hanging out wid her all the Saat Janam ka Bandhan emotion comes alive. Well as of now ( 7 days before the D-Day April 20th) we both are smitten [badly i mite add :) ] by each other and seem to be made for each other.

I feel Hinduism is the mostly perfectly designed religion and the Hindu Gods have created the perfect Template Class from which you can derive Meaningful solution to a generic entity called "Life Partner" .

So Far So Good. Shopping, inviting friends & foes has taken up my time.

Right now a severe calmness is getting o0over me. Or is it me being lethargic on a Sunny Sunday Morning ?

A little something about Suhasini,

On the face of it she appears a very confident woman who knows what she wants.

She is a Fair complexioned and appears to be a social animal. She has lot of patience...which is obvious since she is marrying a cynic like me :). Jokes apart she can take my crappy talk on the fone for hours. But then we both are polarised and then talk cannot be more meaning ful as i see it now. She is from a very rural setting Ainapur in Belgaum. I am a very Urbane individual with upbrining in Mumbai and Career in Bangalore.

Regarding the Honeymooning part...I've decided to head to Kerala and to a place where Vegitation & Forestation ABounds and where the Urban gadgetry and bigotry is unheard of.

I want to have a Rural experience for sometime.

Then I head back to the rigmarole @ office. Work wise some really interesting requirements popped up while i was trying to put a temporary shutdown to my routine procedures.

TC Fellas!

~A very Single Prasanna :) Signing off

( well this could be my last blog as a Bachelor, well who knows i may get consumed by my married life and may lose my personal space. It may also happen that I acquire a different view point than what I currently hold on certain things :) .... well i am sure excited to the core)

The Absent Minded Successfuls

Why do men sometimes try to be preposterous and delirious. Perhaps God can explain or maybe not!
with God These days being no singular stuff ;-).
China is playing dirty and the underlying of grain of thinking beat me initially!
What are the odds of winning against a Super Power Bully like china. Still the Local Tibetans are clashing with the opressors. One is reminded of Peace and Tranquil on seeing a Monk. But why of all the people Monks are taking to such severe protests. It appears the Chinese are depriving Tibetans of their Homeland by dividing the section of Society on Religious lines. If rumours are to be believed more than 100 peaceful protesters were killed in the brutal action by chinese riot police in Tibet.
`Quo Vadis` China !
Lets see why does China need Lhasa and cannot mind its own business...
First of all, Tibet gives it the Strategic advantage in the Military Zone of Pakistan/India/Russia.
Secondly, In January of 2007, the Chinese government issued a report outlining the discovery of a large mineral deposit under the Tibetan Plateau. The deposit has an estimated value of $128 billion and may double Chinese reserves of zinc, copper, and lead. China is seeing this as a way to alleviate the country's dependence on foreign mineral imports necessary for its growing economy. However, critics worry that mining these vast resources will harm Tibet's fragile ecosystem as well take valuable resources away from the Tibetan people!
Is there a need for China to do this at all ?. It can instead reduce its growing population.Once the population problem is solved all the others will be solved.I feel China is over ambitious and tryign to solve the wrong problem. It means after Tibet is exhausted it will turn to India or Bangladesh.
It appears China is doing what US did to Iraq for oil. unfair enough seems to be the word...
If this is not Cruelty unlimited then pray tell me what else is ?The UN and other so-called Moral police need to do some soul-searching.Does it always need some serious happening to get them thinking ?The US cannot for now take on China, as US itself reels under recession.
The Chinese I feel are just a set of absent minded selfish mean Successful people. The poor Tibetans are being murdered in their homeland to satisfy the ever burgeoning Chinese populace and its demands. Today no country can challenge China, Not even US and Resurgent Russia.
The Chinese i feel are born without morals and are just opportunistic weasels waiting to strike.
Is Ban-Ki Moon listening. I am sure he is listening but why is he deaf and maintaining `Status Quo` ??
My heart goes out to the Tibetans and the Tibetan Monks who lost their lives.
Moral of the Story : Indeed its not a fair world. The Tibetans are gettin a raw deal and a bloody nose for just loving their Homeland. Indeed there are some absent minded Firsts(I mean the chinese bigots) among equals and like a kid i curse these so-called Firsts to be destroyed by a war which Nostradamus has predicted will happen pretty soon ;-)
RIP mere Tibetan Dostoan...feeling of helplessness looms large tonite...

Plastic Presidents

The US is electing a President
Russia will be losing an able President

All this presidential hoopla makes matters a trifle Funny on the outside(what with me being a Muted spectator living in India). Once a president makes it to the top post its more like he is greater than God. he is in a Shield where no being living or dead can harm him/her.
His word is Supreme and he can do as he likes with the rest of the world.
And of course all that comes with a Plastic smile which has a headliner of saving the world or some such crap.

The Reality however is startling to say the least. The US is currently crawling due to recession & need a president to revive the Sagging fortunes.
so it currently is like picking up a set of lingerie which can hold its selves togather.

Russians have their Best set of Lingerie after the cold war years. Putin has done what America would've never expected of him.
Europe could never expect a Resurgent Russia. Putin has held through thick and thin.
Well in the circumstances it appears he is the best thing that could happened to Russia at that time.
While the UK might be eager for his exit. It remains to be seen if Putin extends his term or gets some one able like him.
The Europeans and the Americans will be watching with close interest.

These days US Elections are the Biggest TURN OFF for me. Pick any damn news magazine and Covers sport the plastic smiles of the candidates.

In Fact the Pakistani Elections are more Funny Scandalous Dangerous and ensure continued interest for the avid politico.

Tirupati in a Day's Time

This might be ma biggest blog hiatus till now. I happened to be in Tirupati to seek the Almighty's blessings. Walked (or scaled rather) barefoot to the Hill top Temple.
Earlier in the day we (Samir n me) were fingerprinted while booking the Darshan slot. But this finger printing was never verified. Leaving a big question mark on the entire show being managed.

What use is the Finger Printing?? read this to see some Brit usage of the same(http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/03/07/nheathrow107.xml)

Comign back to the darshan it was a little Chaotic and Hurried process. At the end when we had the Prasadam we were overjoyed we finally had completed the entire process which is very strenous. In fact due to unforeseen delays we would have missed the Bus 2 Bangalore.

If you ever happen to visit Tirupati here are some pointers.
1. the weather is severe so make sure you drink lot of water/Juice
2. If climbing to the Temple make sure u wear loose T-shirt and trousers. You will sweat profusely.
3. Confirm 3 times your Darshan timings else you might be in for a long wait once u reach the temple.
4. Plan your return Bus a little late in the Night. Also Volvo buses are a must.
5. If possible stay for a day atleast in Tirupati city.

God Bless!

QSQT : Mobile Dimensions of Cinema

ha ha ha hey hey hey ho ho ho....

I was couching at home and chanced upon the movie "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak" being aired on some channel. This movie was and still is a Huge hit when it comes to indian cinema.

The point I want to mention is that. The hero and heroine in the movie fall in love in a Jungle.

And all hell breaks loose when the parents come to know of this.

But imagine if they *had* mobiles then !

The hero would have cautioned the heroine in advance so every damn thing would have moved Peacfully. NO Story for the movie :).

New age cinema story writing becomes that much more difficult with a mobile phones.

The Hypthetical scenarios cease to exist with the cell around :)

~Cheers!

Kahaan gaye woh log !!!

Thinking of India in the NanoAge sure feels good. India is study in contrast to Pakistan which was born on the same day. India is a hyper developed country which is underdeveloped in some ways. It has intellectuals fuelling the world economy.Scientists who work for Fortune 100 companies to world class universities. The indians are simply irresistible.
From Roti-Naan to the Nano car its been a jolly good ride...
What could have been a Super sonic Flight to stardom for india was cut short by the British colonising and bleeding from ages.
Corruption was not present in the pre-East India Company age. It was the british divide and rule culture which spoilt the Indian Moral Fabric. Why I do care of pre-Independence facts ??

There is a very Huge fault line which was drawn at the time of slavery.
All natural resources were drained by the UK Government. Which lead to a rich india languishing into a under developed poor state.
Corruption started raising its ugly head then.
And then it rose exponentially :(

Now we have reached a stage of Point of No Return. Any government job now involves hidden costs(bribes).
There used to be an age of self-reliance and the outside world used to rely on Bharat Varsh(India) for Gold, Spices, Cotton, Silk etc.
Now sadly we see Foreign companies encircling us in a tightened Noose. From toothpaste to boots every thing is now with a Foreign Label. Videshi seems to be the order of marketing. I still used to remember the Shoe maker "Power" with its unique logo. The indigenous companies has vanished without a trace. BPL, Videocon, Godrej, Kelvinator seem to have faded away. It would be interesting to know what really happened. was it lack of innovation or cheap immitation from MNCs which did them in. How much ever we want to use desi items, videsi items are stock piled in our markets.
The Tata, Mittal way of buying companies may be good to grow inorganically in a short period. But is there some soul searching by the government on why it cannot help a company be a global giant like Samsung or LG.
Other countries actively promote their companies with a sense of pride not seen here in india. Take the case of Corus/Arcelor deals, The native governments were against it. But had to bow to the Business acumen of indians. what is stopping these giants to cultivate local companies and go global. Only Vijay mallya seems to be the person who goes the distance. Indeed he is as shrewd and intelligent a business man as his dad was.
The next 2/3 years I see a domination of chinese products and goods and unless India goes through a industrial revolution. We will end up consuming and fuelling the global economy rather than using our local Products. Wonder where all the indian MBAs are and in what way they are helping India in this Century.
I myself would love to be an entrepreneur but due to paucity of funds I remain as an Engineer waiting to make things happen for india.Lets hope by next 26th January I do something +ve for India and the Indian community at large.

Quotation for the Year 2008

From one Emerson essay:
A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines.
With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall.
Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day.
— 'Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood.'
— Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood?
Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh.
To be great is to be misunderstood.
Are you going Bonkers with the hunky Dorky gibberish....well then Read my next post about New Year Resolutions.
